Dikugong Esalung comes from the village of Old Tensen under Paren district of Nagaland. People in his village depend on Jhum cultivation as the means of their sustenance. The village lacks social, political, economical and educational development. 90% of the households in the village fall under below poverty line.
Diku has pampered for long this dream of uplifting the life of the poor in his village especially the widows and the widowers by creating livelihood opportunities. And in view of fulfilling his dream, in 2014 he started an organization called Rural Community Development Centre Society (RCDC Society) in his village. He says, though I am struggling a lot to access funds and skilled manpower, Youth Involve Fellowship gave him the initial push and support to start working on realizing his dream.
Dikugong has received the Youth Involve Social Initiative fellowship for the year 2017 -19. We wish him all the very best and a meaningful journey ahead!
